Little Falls Trail, Santa Lucia Wilderness

Today we finally made the drive and hike out to the Little Falls Trail in the Santa Lucia Wilderness Area of Los Padres National Forest.  It's hike 103 in the "Day Hikes Around San Luis Obispo" Guidebook.

It's a very remote hike that requires an off road vehicle and 8 creek crossings.  The crossings are super fun, especially this early in the year.  The kids were so excited (and a little scared) for all 16 crossings.

To get there, take Hi Mountain Road to Lopez Canyon road.  Drive to the end and hang a right at the dirt road.  The trail head is on the right after about 7 miles.

Salamander
The hike had a boatload of wild life and incredible views.  We found salamanders, bugs, a banana slug, deer, along with lots of butter flies and birds.  Spring is on full display right now.

We had a fun hike, and probably all took home a souvenir, some itchy poison oak.

    1. It's a keeper, worth the trip out there. They LOVED crossing the creek in the truck.
